American Memory Fellowship, from the Library of Congress
In the Summer of 1997 I was accepted, along with teammate Peter Milbury, as one of 25 teams of educators as American Memory Fellows, by the Library of Congress (LOC). Peter and I expanded and elaborated on the American West unit I had produced for the California History/Social Science project. For a week, we met and collaborated with some of the top teachers and librarians in the US in creating webpages for the Learning Page of the LOC.
Webpage Creation at PV
From 1996 I began working with webpage creation, running the PV website. As part of that experiment, I had my students begin creating multiple websites on history topics in the International Baccalaureate framework. Initially, these page were just for our students. However, we began to get e-mail from around the world regarding our site. Among those who have linked to our sites or have contacted us have been CSPAN, Hotwired, Atlantic Monthly, BBC producers of TV series (twice!) as well as Universities and High Schools in Italy, Germany, Spain, Mexico, Canada, Malaysia, Bermuda and France.
